Taiwan Muller's Barbet

The Taiwan Muller's Barbet, also known as the "Taiwan Magpie," is a unique bird species native to Taiwan. Apart from its green body, it displays five distinct colors on its head and neck: yellow, blue, red, black, and green. During the breeding season, they carve nests into tree trunks, and due to their plump physique, the nest entrance is relatively large. If you spot a large hole around 10cm in diameter on a dead tree in a national park, it's likely the nest of a Taiwan Muller's Barbet.

In conceptualizing the design of this guitar, drawing inspiration from the bird's distinctive behavior, it was placed next to the guitar's soundhole, depicting the bird's posture with its feet gripping the entrance of a tree hole, as if preparing to enter. The design was created using dyed wooden pieces, hand-cut and assembled. To emphasize the focal point, a sunburst effect was applied to the guitar's top.
